Fashion Challenge Friday-WOOF!

I am always amused at the choices Caroline makes for her wardrobe on any given day. This day, I was working with a friend on a business plan so Grandma (Rick’s mom and my wonderful MIL) graciously came down to watch Caroline and Peter and played Mom for a day. When I arrived home, it was around 80 degrees outside, Grandma was tired after walking to the park with her granddaughter and Caroline decided to change into this:

She wanted to make sure you could see the tail.

Yes, that is a doggy costume (Bernese Mountain Dog, I reckon). I know it’s going to be all the rage soon. No longer will pets be an accessory with matching clothing of the owner, but the owner will actually BE the pet they love. It’s the ultimate in “look at me”. I understand Paris Hilton will be calling me soon for fashion tips on how best to implement this innovative style into her oh-so-fascinating life.

Later, she was in the bathtub and decided she wanted a beard like daddy. Here is the result:

Sorry there are no pictures of Peter this time. He is home sick today with a 24-hour flu bug. Nope, not the Swine Flu (or whatever number they gave it). I checked the symptoms of the Swine Flu and they don’t match up. Did call the doctor, though…

Yesterday, she donned an old bathing suit (a size 2T on a 5 year old-apparently my girl has no tushie) and played in the sprinklers. Unfortunately, our backyard has patches of dirt where grass doesn’t grow due to kids playing and a large pine tree that drops an acid that keeps grass from growing. Anyway, here is what happens when dirt and water are mixed together by a little girl:

Oh yea, we're having fun now!

Check out my muddy tushie

Did I mention she likes to paint with her hands???

I'm having fun, Mommy. Can we do this again tomorrow?

Shortly after I took this shot, the next set of sprinklers went off and I got caught in the spray. Saved the camera, though!

And in case you're wondering what happened to the poor dog costume after a 5-year old is finished playing with it:

It makes a fine dog-skin rug....

Love the pics!! And your post just cracked me up, you are so dang funny. That muddy tush is like a good parent award, by the way, the muddier and happier the kiddo, the more kudos to the mom. I'm trying to get better at that kind of thing...

Yours looks more fun than mine...we just got out the "stream machine" squirt guns and the boys and next door neightbor and her friend all got soaked. It was a very fun afternoon. Forgot to get pictures of it though.

Thanks for the coke on ice suggestion, but when I said we don't drink alcohol, I should have included that my dad and I can't even handle caffiene either! LOL

I can't imagine my kids dressing themselves. But I have seen that mix-matched shoe thing before!

Love that ladybug clip and dress for Easter! ADORABLE! Since we left the "China" blogging world to follow more "Taiwan" journeys I haven't been so consumed with ladybugs - but they are beautiful!

Hope that flu bug is gone - Gracyn's was longer than 24 hours. . .uggh.

What an adventurous day your daughter had. You must have had to hose her down first before letting her int he house.

Really cute!

That is just too funny! I love the doggie outfit. Caroline is quite the original (she reminds me of Chloe).

Great job on saving the camera!

I hope Peter feels better soon.

This was too funny! Gosh, I really think our girls would have fun together! Mud puddles + Simone = a typical & happy summer day!
And I just love the fashion statements Caroline chooses to make...we should all feel our best in a dog suit or muddy old bathing suit! Hope you had a great Mother's day!
