Busy Weekend!

Today was another busy day. First we were at church where we had a guest speaker, Dale Evrist http://www.foursquare.org/locator/districts.sd?iid=89220 who was the founding pastor of our church until he was called to church plant in Nashville, TN 15 years ago. The church is NewSong Christian Fellowship http://new-song.com/ . We were happy to have him back and his message confirmed what I have felt for some time: It's time to stop arguing petty doctrinal issues and focus on what unites us rather than what divides us. There is power in unity and weakness in division. That is true in the strength of our country, the strength of our marriages, the strength of our relationships, the strength or our parenting, and the strength of our causes. The Bible says a house divided shall fail. I am seeing its truth more and more.

Then Peter has his belt testing for Tae Kwon Do. He passed with flying colors and is now a purple belt. It was great that Rick got to see the testing this time. Usually he is at work and gets home after the testing is done. Since Peter was taking the make-up test and it was on a Sunday, Rick got to see it.

Peter now has his purple belt.

The students after belt testing.

Then Peter attended a birthday pool party. He had a great time and enjoyed playing with a bunch of boys his age. We were a little late getting there as the belt testing took a long time, but he managed to get his fill of cake, ice cream, red vines, and punch. He'll probably have that sugar buzz for a while...
