Yesterday was a blast! We went to a pumpkin carving party at the home of Peter's former soccer coach. We brought Yumiko so she could experience the pumpkin carving tradition and she loved it. Across the street was a home where the boys of the house rigged up a "haunted house" in the garage. It was cute and Peter and Yumiko liked it. Didn't scare Peter at all because he recognized his friends in the costumes. Peter got the award for his "Beautiful Cat-Line" pumpkin, Caroline got an award for her "Very Angry" little pumpkin, and Yumiko got the award for her "Beautiful Scenery" pumpkin. They also had a "Guess the amount" for candy corn and a "Guess the weight" for a very large pumpkin. We didn't win either. Just as well. The kids don't need any more candy and I had no idea how we were going to get a 123.8 pound pumpkin in the car.
The kids had pizza, sodas, desserts, candy, and playtime they could handle. It was great and very memorable for the kids and Yumiko. Not surprisingly, they all crashed hard after the sugar rush and playtime. They went to bed early and didn't fuss at all!
We have our church carnival on Friday night. Gotta get things prepared for that! Rick and friends have been making new games for the carnival and it should be great. I'm off to make a gift basket for a raffle....
Here's Yumiko carving her first-ever pumpkin.
Caroline needed a bit of help with her pumpkin.
Here is Peter's "Beautiful Cat-Like" pumpkin all lit up.
The little one is Caroline's "Angry Pumpkin"
