Well, today was parent/teacher conference with Peter's teacher. It went pretty well. His reading grade level went up quite a bit from last year which makes this mommy very happy indeed. We discussed other areas that need to be worked on, but nothing that was insurmountable.
Poor kid has been sick this week. He has had a very sore throat and a slight fever. He can hardly talk and when he does he sounds like a chain-smoker (not a good sound for a 9 year old). The bummer for him is that he is BORED at home.
The good news is that my friend, Ligia is coming for a visit! She lived 3 doors away and her son, Brendan and Peter are best friends and have known each other since they were 6 months old. They are only 2 weeks apart in age. Ligia and I go back much farther than that when we were both in the singles group at church. Then she got married and was living in an apartment for a few years until they bought a house 3 doors away from us. We didn't find out about it until they moved in! Anyway, her husband got a job transfer to Texas and they moved, but because the market is so bad right now, they are renting out their house here. In addition, if they need to move back to CA, they will still have their house. She will be staying here for about 5 days while she visits other friends in town. Peter and Brendan still keep in touch by phone and email (Through the mom's emails, mind you! They are only 9 after all!)
